Pam Dent, BA, LMT
Twenty-eight years ago Pam found her passion in the practice of massage therapy. In 1991, while still in massage school she had the opportunity to work with cancer patients at Memorial Hospital’s first "We Care Weekend." It was then she realized the power and significance of simple, gentle touch. Since then she has fostered an intuitive approach to her work that integrates therapeutic modalities with nurturing touch.
Pam is certified in Neuromuscular Therapy, Pediatric Massage, Infant Massage, the Braddock Body Process and is a Reiki Master. She has studied numerous modalities including reflexology, clinical massage, myofascial release, polarity therapy, lymphatic drainage, craniosacral therapy and hospice massage.
Pam has been a massage educator for 27 years teaching in both a school setting and leading her own workshops. Drawing from her own experience she emphasizes that the essence of a massage session is the connection between client and therapist and encourages students to allow technique to be lead by the intention behind their touch.
In 2010, Pam was the lead investigator for a 6-month pilot study at Hospice of Chattanooga on massage and pain management at end of life. She shares that working with people during the final chapter of their life has been the most rewarding experience of her career.
In 2017 Pam co-founded Heart to Heart Touch, a nonprofit dedicated to bringing compassionate touch to individuals at end of life and who have experienced life-changing trauma. Pam is a licensed massage therapist in the state of Tennessee.
Regarding her work Pam says, "I focus on the quality and intent of my touch to help the client reach a deeper level of relaxation and inner peace."
